Natural sciences and art don't go together?
We think they do!

This year, for the first time, the Erwin L. Hahn Institute for MRI (ELH) is inviting entries for the interdisciplinary art competition ARTifact - Imaging MRI, and calls on scientists, artists and all creative people to show us what they can do!

We are looking for creative, visual contributions (photographs, collages, digital and traditional images), which deal with or are inspired by the current research work at the Erwin L. Hahn Institute for MRI.

True to the ELH‘s motto, this year‘s overarching theme is:

>> BODY AND BRAIN <<

How are pain and placebos related? What does learned fear look like? How does addiction feel like? What would a person look like in a magnetic field, if you could see the field? How do you "build" an MRI? Let us know! You can find further information on our research fields here.

The competition is endowed with a prize of 3x200 Euros for the three best entries. Additionally, 2x2 tickets to the RuhrMuseum will be raffled off among all participants.

The submission deadline for entries is November 30th, 2023. From December 1st to December 14th, there will be a public online voting here on the ELH website to determine the winning entries. The winners will be then announced on December 15th, 2023.

The winning entries will be exhibited both on site at the Erwin L. Hahn Institute for MRI and online on our website and X (formerly Twitter). They will also be exhibited at the Erwin L. Hahn Lecture & Workshop 2024.

The voting is now open!
